Marshal Zhukov is a large yellow Russian bred pear with brownish red blush, weighing up to 200 grams. Expect a tender juicy pear that is sour-sweet in flavour with a faint aroma. Fruit matures in late August to early September. Stores up to a month in cold storage. Named after a famous WWII Soviet military commander.
This is a newer variety that is growing in our orchards. It holds a lot of promise for colder climate growing and so far has done well for us. It may be worth trying to experiment with growing the Marshal Zhukov pear in zone 2 climates.
