In Russia where it was developed, the Chizhovsky Pear is used as the standard that any new pear varieties are compared against.

The Chizhovsky Pear is a medium sized greenish yellow pear with typical pear shape. Taste is sweet and aromatic with soft and juicy flesh that weighs around 140 grams. Fruit matures in early September and stores up to three months in cold storage. It is known to be a heavy producer. There are reports of Chizhovsky fruiting well in regions with cool summers.
